These wonderful, moist, chocolate cookies were a big hit at the BASCC meeting and is just the recipe chocolate lovers are always searching for:

Mocha Fudge Cookies

1 cp. butter (no substitute)
2 cps. Chocolate chips
1½ cps. Sugar
½ cp. Cocoa
½ Tbsp. Coffee granules
1 1/2 cp. Brown sugar
4 Beaten eggs
11/2 Tbsp. Vanilla
4 cps. Flour
1 tsp. Baking powder
½ tsp. Salt
¾ cps. Walnuts

In double boiler, melt butter and 1 cup chocolate chips. Remove chips from heat and stir until smooth. Combine the sugar, cocoa and coffee; add to butter mixture. Stir in brown sugar. Stir in eggs and vanilla. Combine flour, baking powder and salt; gradually add to chocolate mixture. Stir in walnuts and remaining chocolate chips. Drop by rounded teaspoons 2 inches apart on ungreased sheet. Bake at 350 for 10-11 minutes or until edges are set. Remove to wire rack. (I combined all chocolate chips with butter, instead of adding some at last). Makes about 9 dozen.
